Daycare Program

Daycare Program
Admissions
Kid's Land Academy Child Development & Learning Center is open to all children, regardless of race, religion, ancestry, or national origin. We offer our care for infants from 6 weeks to 2 years old, pre-school for ages 2-5 years, and extended day care. All children are required have the standard immunizations for their age, and a tuberculin clearance in order to be admitted. Written approval by your child's physician must be on file as required by licensing regulations. (This does not apply to school-aged children.)

* ALL FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE CHILD''S ACTUAL ADMITTANCE.
Staff Qualifications: Our child care center has a fully-qualified, day care director, and we meet all level community-care licensing requirements.
Our Behavior Policy
The center uses no form of corporal punishment. We believe in a systematic approach to discipline. Every effort will be made to assist in a child's negative behavior. These efforts consist of:
1. Re-direction
2. Separation from the group for several minutes

If the above does not result in the child being able to participate in the group, and this behavior is repeated throughout the week, the parent will be contacted for a conference. If the child/children or any adult is in danger of a child's disruptive behavior such as throwing items, biting, hitting, or running out of the designated classroom, it may become necessary to terminate the child from the program.

This is done only as a last resort and in the interests of all concerned. We will never discipline a child in front of the other children. We cannot express our beliefs on this enough. We want to do our best to raise a child's self-esteem and not hinder it, and will handle the discipline process in a calm and respectful manner.

If a child purposely destroys property of Kid's Land Academy Child Development & Learning Center, the parents are obligated to pay for any damage the child creates. Examples of actions which constitute compensation are:

1. Throwing an object with the intent of causing destruction
2. Ripping carpet
3. Punching or kicking walls

A parent will only be held responsible, if any of the above mentioned are done to cause harm. The center will NOT be held responsible for loss or theft, or damage to items brought from home. We discourage children from bringing toys or items from home, however children are allowed to bring in an item to share with the rest of the class on Friday Share Day. Keep in mind however that this item must be in regards for the theme of that week.
Health Policy
If your child has 1 or more of the following illnesses, we ask that you keep your child at home. We are not licensed to care for sick children.
1. A fever of 101 degrees or over (100 degrees for infants)
2. Diarrhea (After 2nd occurrence parent will be called, after 3rd, child must go home)
3. Vomiting (Child must be picked up after first occurrence)
4. Any diagnosed contagious illness (Pink eye, rashes, etc.) Child will sent home

State licensing and health regulations mandate that we may not care for ill children. We will try our best to be understanding about a runny-nose or a little loose stool, however, if you feel your child may be contagious, it is out of fairness for the other children that we enforce this policy. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Illness: The center must be notified immediately if your child becomes ill. Children who are contagious may not attend school. Any child who is too ill to participate in indoor/outdoor activities should be kept at home. Parents will be notified of any serious contagious disease at the center.
Emergencies: Minor accidents occurring during class, such as cuts and scratches, receive prompt attention by staff members. In the event of a serious emergency, parents will be notified. Parents MUST inform the center of any change in telephone numbers.

The center MUST be able to reach you in the event of an emergency.

Prescriptions: Medication may only be administered on-site with a signed note from the child's doctor, and must be labeled and prescribed to that child. Non-Prescription, or over-the-counter medication will be administered based on the advice of the medicine bottle label.
First-Aid Training: Minimum first aid will be administered by staff. Example: Application of Band-Aid™. Ice applied to bruises, etc.

Also, please do not provide your child with any special snack, for we do not want the other children to feel left out, because one child is snacking on something other than what we provide. Food throughout the day will consists of the four food groups and will be served at the appropriate times.
